I’m using Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS with the latest updates and Kernel 5.8.0-43 and 5.8.0-59.
When I use Kernel 5.8.0-59, a black screen pops up instead of the login screen and I can’t do anything (when I temporarily connect an external monitor via HDMI, I see a purple screen and cursor, but there is no login window). I only use the internal display on a daily basis. What do I do with it? When I add “nomodeset” to “GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT” the system loads, but it takes a long time and doesn’t run perfectly smoothly. I am currently using 5.8.0-43 and everything is fine, but I would like to use newer Kernel versions.
I have an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0009nw / Intel i5-1135G7, 2x8GB DDR4, Intel Iris Xe and 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD.
On Ubuntu 21.04 it is the same, older Kernel versions are ok and after the update there is a black screen again instead of the login window.
