Happy, of course, to give any system details required, but I’m getting some very odd display issues on UbuntuStudio 21.04.
I’m using an HP Z240 workstation with Intel 530 integrated GPU and with 16GB RAM. The main problem I’m seeing is that when I’m approaching 8GB RAM usage I get very large screen artifacts (sometimes over half the display) particularly badly in Firefox, but other applications as well such as kdenlive, which cannot be rectified without a full reboot. None of the options for screen tearing in plasma seem to make a difference. Intel conf scripts I’ve looked at in forums such as this have made no difference either.
I’m also using LMMS – AppImage version as that’s the only way I seem to be able to get Carla to work, which I need for various synths. After working on any music, the top right quarter of the workspace seems to only display the resize cursor no matter what is underneath it, essentially rendering the application completely unusable – and it’s what I do my my main creative work on. And once the file is saved, that top quarter will remain completely unusable on reopening the file, so any workspace windows that appear there are inaccessible and I have to abandon my work.
I had been growing to like Plasma after migrating from Mint XFCE, but this behaviour is just making work impossible.
