I have the issue that standard keyboard combinations – such as shift+alt for selecting text – on the left side of my keyboard don’t work in standard application such as TextEdit. It is not possible to select single characters or whole words.
The same modifier keys on the right side of the keyboard work as they should.
First I thought that my keyboard (hardware) was broken. But it seems to be a software issue. Maybe there are programs (e.g. TextEdit and Safari) that both use conflicting keyboard combinations?
What I’ve tried
- Using an external keyboard. Same issues.
- Installing a keyboard tester (Inspect). Keyboard works fine.
- Check System Preferences —> Keyboard —> Modifier Keys. No conflicting settings.
- Installed ShortcutDetective, which I can’t get working
Any clues on how I can make the left modifier keys work again?
