My girlfriends' system was set up with the autologin enabled.
If you disable it (Settings> Details> Users> Unlock> Disable automatic login slider), the system will pause, and the system will freeze (no console can display only a non-flashing cursor by pressing ESC before freezing during startup) a blank screen).
- Boot in Safe Mode (Shift during / hold shortly after BIOS / UEFI)
- Advanced Boot Options, Recovery Mode
- Restart the boot process when prompted
- Renable Autologin (Settings> Details> User> Unlock> Automatic Login slider on)
This works fine, but not normal. Reactivating automatic login resolved all issues.
I've tried several things, including commenting on all autologin lines in the GDM3 configuration, dpkg-reconfigure gdm3, and more, but nothing seems to fix that.
How can we disable automatic login and not crash it?
