permissions – Launching application as non root user

I’m completely new to the Linux please help me out with this.

I’ve download loaded and directly executable application using the root account, then created it’s shortcut on desktop and it is working fine.
Then I switched to non root user and copied the file shortcut file from the root user’s desktop to non-root user desktop. Then gave it all the permission to using chmod and even gave all the permission to original file in the root user’s account. Even so I’m getting error on launching the file from the non-root user account.

I’m getting following error failed to execute child process “path of orignal executable file in root” (Permission denied).
error

Please help me out.
