physics – Calculating the rotational velocity of a homing missile

I’m implementing this feature into a pet project and it has gotten me stumped.
In a 2D world, I need to calculate the velocity (in vector form) in a way that it will turn towards the target. This will be calculated every frame.

What we have:

  • delta time
  • x/y missile Position
  • x/y target position
  • current velocity of the missile (in vector form)
  • maximum rotational speed (in radians per sec)

I’m looking at formulas but I cannot seem to figure out one that would work
