pulseaudio – Bad sound in Ubuntu

I just switched from Windows to Ubuntu the other day, and I notice that the sound quality isn’t as good as that I get in Windows. I use Realtek HD Audio Driver on windows and I presume that it comes in-built with the Linux kernel. I tried to recreate the ‘Bass’ preset on the Realtek audio manager in pulseeffects but the sound sometimes has distortions and noise. Moreover, I always have to keep my volume level at or above 100% otherwise the sound is too low. Any advice on how to fix it and get better sounds overall?
