Web sharing, also known as Internet sharing, allows you to share your Mac's Internet connection with other computers. You can also share web pages from your Mac.

This can be considered a security risk by many security software applications because it allows other users to access your computer. I will not go into the pros and cons here, as this is beyond the scope of your question.

If you have no reason to share your connection or provide web pages, disable this feature in System Preferences. I assume that you are using macOS v10.14.2.

  1. Open the system settings.
  2. If it is open, go to View -> Share Menu item. This will display the sharing settings.
  3. Uncheck the box Internet Sharing
