sound – Audio repeating when played through speakers Ubuntu 20.04

I’ve been getting an odd issue recently with my sound when playing through speakers, and only through speakers. Warning/notification sounds will loop, indefinitely or at over about a minute loop and slowly get quieter each time. If I’m playing music, such as via Spotify, then the music plays fine but “stutters” every now and then, repeats the same half a second part maybe 2-3 times.

I found this question, and tried turning off realtime-scheduling, but this had no affect. I also found this question but disabling module-suspend-on-idle also had no affect.

This problem does not occur when I am using bluetooth headphones though, it only occurs when using a device plugged into the port on the PC. I haven’t tested the HDMI devices I have plugged in, however, the speakers in my monitors are (like most PC’s) far from great so I don’t plan on using the,

Does anyone have any ideas what’s causing the audio to do this? I do mainly use my headphones, but there are times I don’t want to use them, and I would like to have my audio on and not infinitely hear “d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d…….”

Please do ask if you need any setting details, as I am afraid I don’t really know what to include.
