SSPI authentication to Gresql 11 fails

On Windows 2016 in AD setup, when I try to use SSPI with postgresql 11 and the following settings:

pg_hba.conf:

host all 127.0.0.1/32 sspi map = newmap # IP4

pg_ident.conf:

newmap SrvSupportPsgr srvsupportpsgr

Log:

Protocol: No match in user mapping "newmap" for user "SrvSupportPsgr", authenticated as "SrvSupportPsgr @ domainname"

FATAL: SSPI authentication failed for user "SrvSupportPsgr"

This account has a superuser for Postgres and a local administrator + domain user for AD.
I also tried to put user names in double quotes.
Many Thanks

postgresql – Execute a task without waiting for the results in Postgres 11 on RDS

I have a question about spawning standalone threads on Postgres. Ideally, I would like to say the following:

Have a postgres-sided solution to automatically start tasks on a schedule in their own threads.

Something like the (imaginary) example below:

            CALL_IN_NEW_THREAD do_db_maintenance ();

I understand that this does not exist, but I do not know what is possible or preferable. I'm in the design phase, so my question is not SQL syntax, etc. I'm trying to find out if there's any way to separate a query from the original process so that my connection can be closed without waiting for the task to end. Or even better, if there's a way to automatically start routine tasks on Postgres itself without a client starts it or responds to a NOTIFY.

First the setup:

  • We have a series of routine tasks that need to be performed regularly. Imagine updating materialized views, integrating published changes, DB Administrator tasks, and so on.

  • The results of a query / task are written back to the database so that the client does not need to capture them.

  • Imagine we have a task_definition table that makes it easy for you to find out which tasks should be up and running.

  • Our deployment environment is Postgres 11.x on RDS, so pg_cron is not available. In fact, the command line is not available.

  • We will be on Postgres 11.x until RDS PG 12 certified. So I'm looking for a PG-11 based solution for the foreseeable future, probably most of the next year.

What I hope for, goes like this:

  • Register an external program with Postgres, scan the task_definition table, find the jobs to start and start them.

  • "Start them" in different threads.

  • And then log out.

So the customer just quits and gets out. Is this a possibility in Postgres without a shared library or something else that is impossible on RDS?

If this is not possible, I can always log in to my external program, search for pending tasks and start them in different threads from the client. (Be friendly and assume that I've completed the lock correctly and do not double-start any of the tasks.) It seems a bit silly that the client connection does not really work, but it's not the end of the world , On the other hand, it may be easier to notice when I mess up something and have a task that takes too long.

I've looked at different solutions to planned tasks in Postgres, it seems to be a common requirement. Here are a few pointers to solutions I've seen:

Triggers
Sure, that makes sense … they act as a kind of signal. But then you have the process that runs the trigger tied until the task is done. (There seems to be no way to break a procedure call.) So that's not much help. I think I could have a utility table where the trigger has no other purpose than running a method, but I do not see what that does when I run the method directly in a query.

pg_cron
Not available on RDS.

cron
Not available on RDS. You can, however, set up an EC2 instance, etc., to run cron.

Your language here
Use the language of your choice to connect, execute, maintain and repeat. I suppose that's what I have to do in the end.

NOTIFY / LISTEN
Cool! But it still requires "your language here" to listen, so I think it does not change anything for me.

dblink
That sounds promising, but I'm not sure I'm going for it. dblink_send_query supports one asynchronous query per connection, and it sounds like the connection needs to be maintained. The documents also do not indicate that you can access the same database. We do not currently have a second database in operation, but we will run it sometime.

dnd 5e – Does a cockatiel actually have to land a bite for the first DC 11 Con-saving throw?

The bite must hit

From the basic rules for monsters we can see the following description of the "hit" notation (emphasis mine):

Beat. Damage caused or other effects The consequences of an attack on a target are described after the "hit" notation.

Because the Cockatiel's Bite contains the saving throw to avoid being fossilized by hit notation as part of the Bite Action (emphasis mine):

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: Hit +3, reach 5 feet, a creature. Beat: 3 (1W4 + 1) piercing damage, and the target must successfully pass a DC-11 Constitution Throw to avoid being magically petrified. (…)

Since all of this is part of the same action, the bite must be hit to trigger an effect that follows after the "hit" notation, including the save throw, to prevent it from being petrified.

Roll20 falsely seems to divide the quote into two sentences, which could have caused the confusion (though I should note that the saving throw would still require a hit in this text). The text you associate with roll20 says:

Hits: (1d4 + 1) stabbing damage. The target must pass a DC 11 Constitution save against magical fossilization.

Accessibility – JAWS with IE 11 – focus changes to another area on another computer after loading the page

So we are three. We all have JAWS 2018

I have IE 11 11.557.17763.0
My two coworkers have IE 11.885.17134.0

So I on the website in question there is a drop down menu with a checkbox immediately in tab order afterwards. I can open this menu, make a selection, load the page, and move my focus to this check box

However, my two colleagues have relocated to the URL bar of the IE 11 web browser while loading the page.

We believe that there must have been some kind of IE update, as I still use an older version of the IE. As a result, the browser performs this action, but I can not duplicate it on my computer.

Is the history of the US government on September 11 really credible?

100% credible. The story is supported by the evidence and the experts who have verified the evidence.
"Can the building really fall off an airplane that hits it on the 93rd floor?" Certainly. There were another 17 floors where the plane hit the building. As the columns gave way due to the massive damage and fire, these floors fell and caused a chain reaction that collapsed the building.

"You would fall STRAIGHT DOWN ???? That's not very curious about you ???" Of course they would fall down directly. The towers were not tilted after the impact, so the only external force on the building was gravity, which was just pulled down. Some debris from the upper floors fell outside the footprint of the building, as these floors were inclined.

"Tower 7 also falls without a plane" Hmmmm "Tower 7 was massively damaged by the falling debris of the main towers.

I looked at the footage as it happened. I read what numerous experts wrote. A French idiot with a YouTube video and no basic understanding of physics will change my mind.

If you think the US government is behind the attacks, be an idiot. If so, they hired the people who took over the planes. The whole BS of explosives (would have taken weeks to wire these buildings, someone would have noticed) and remote-controlled military aircraft, which are painted so that they look like passenger planes (not missing), are crazy.
