I'm trying to install Redhat 8.1 Linux OS from a bootable USB device on my personal HP Omen 17 laptop. During the installation I get the error message "ucsi_acpi USBC000: 00: PPM init failed (-110)" and can not install the operating system. However, Oracle VirtualBox 6.0.14 installs the same boot image. Running Virutalbox slows down my laptop and tries to dual boot Windows 10 and RHEL 8. I even tried another version of RHEL 7.7. The error message remains the same. Can you please help me to fix this error and install RHEL? The details below and the attached error message snippet are for reference. Have I missed additional information, please let me know. Thank you for your time in advance.
In the following Google search, I found that the message is informative and harmless. I can not install the operating system though.
Some investigations lead to:
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/p … i-spec.pdf
UCSI = "Software Interface for USB Type C Connector System"
PPM = "Platform Policy Manager Hardware / Firmware that manages all USB Type-C ports on the platform."
Since there is no USB-C on H2, the UCSI PPM is expected to fail. The UEFI mistakenly claims its presence through an ACPI table entry. Therefore, we can conclude that the message is "informative" and harmless.
I even tried to disable my UCSI ACPI device through the Device Manager, but still the same error.
