How do I configure a NetworkManager GSM connection for my Simcon SIM5320A modem connected to an Rpi3 via serial / UART?

I use one Raspberry Pi 3 To run Raspbian GNU / Linux 10 (Buster) with NetworkManager 1.14.6 and ModemManager 1.10.0This is connected with a Simcom SIM5320A Modem via UART to the port ttyAMA0

First, I had to modify my Rpi3 to use the serial port, so I had to remove it console=serial0,115200 from /boot/cmdline.txt, and add the following /boot/config.txt:

#dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d #This was enabled by default
dtparam=i2c_arm=on
dtparam=i2c1=on
dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt
enable_uart=1

To get the modem recognized by ModemManager, I had to set the following udev rule:

ACTION=="add|change|move", KERNEL=="ttyAMA0", ENV{ID_MM_TTY_FLOW_CONTROL}="none", ENV{ID_MM_TTY_BAUDRATE}="115200", ENV{ID_MM_CANDIDATE}="1", ENV{ID_MM_PLATFORM_DRIVER_PROBE}="1"

The device looks like this:

$ udevadm info /dev/ttyAMA0

P: /devices/platform/soc/3f201000.serial/tty/ttyAMA0
N: ttyAMA0
L: 0
S: serial0
E: DEVPATH=/devices/platform/soc/3f201000.serial/tty/ttyAMA0
E: DEVNAME=/dev/ttyAMA0
E: MAJOR=204
E: MINOR=64
E: SUBSYSTEM=tty
E: USEC_INITIALIZED=4926482
E: ID_MM_CANDIDATE=1
E: ID_MM_TTY_FLOW_CONTROL=none
E: ID_MM_TTY_BAUDRATE=115200
E: ID_MM_PLATFORM_DRIVER_PROBE=1
E: DEVLINKS=/dev/serial0
E: TAGS=:systemd:

I was able to send AT commands to my modem minicom without flow control and 115200 8N1 for / dev / ttyAMA0

As soon as I turn on the modem with:

echo 22 > /sys/class/gpio/unexport 2>/dev/null
echo 22 > /sys/class/gpio/export
echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio22/direction
echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/gpio22/value
sleep 6

I can trigger a modem scan (sudo mmcli -S) and it is recognized as:

/ org / freedesktop / ModemManager1 / Modem / 0 (SIMCOM INCORPORATED) SIMCOM_SIM5320A

$ mmcli -m 0

As I understand when reading ModemManager logs, the connection seems to fail for two reasons

1) ModemManager fails after a

Signal quality could not be updated: & # 39; No AT port available to run the command & # 39;

2) NetworkManager displays a warning and then fails

(1572423930.3650) Device (ttyAMA0): ttyAMA0 interface is not available for IP configuration

(1572423950.1289) ppp-manager: pppd has timed out or not initialized our dbus module

After this connection attempt, the modem is in a strange state where I need to turn it off and on again to actually respond

In order to discard faulty hardware or incorrect provider settings, I was able to test the connection from this device with ppp. My successful attempt was to execute the command:

/usr/sbin/pppd defaultroute usepeerdns debug connect "/usr/sbin/chat -V -f /home/pi/conScript" noauth /dev/ttyAMA0 nodetach 115200

and the script was:

Any suggestions are more than welcome, I can not seem to find a way to configure it

cyanogenmod – OrangePi 3G-IOT GSM feature does not work

I've just built a small device with the MediaTek 6572 controller on the Orange Pi 3G IOT controller running Android 4.4

The device boots properly and even shows good signal strength when a GSM SIM card is inserted. I can not make a call or send / receive SMS (network unavailable / unregistered)

However, the SIM card is properly recognized, as well as the operator and even the GSM number for the SIM card. I wonder if something has to be done in the kernel because it should be ready to use right away and there is little documentation available.

Baffled:

gsm – Disabling caller ID transmission per address book contact – CLIR

This question is about CLIR (phone number verification).
On a mobile device, you can enable or disable CLIR globally.

By default, I want block my caller ID transmission
For some of my contacts (like "friends and family") I want to transfer my ID,
so they know that I call them …

On the web, I found the following workaround:

  • Suppose I have an address book entry "Mum" with phone number +44 123 45678
  • then I will activate CLIR globally on my phone (so my ID is.) Not to be submitted)
  • and then change Mom's phone number into * 31 # + 44 123 45678

For simple phone calls that works well.
Sending SMS (SMS) from my Samsung phone to this number fails!
and probably WhatsApp contacts and the like will fail too.

are there solutions?
Did not anyone think of implementing such an address book feature to transfer the caller ID to specific contacts only?

additional keywords:
CLIR, CID, CLID, CLI, CND, CNID, CLIP, * 31 #, # 31 #
GSM USSD codes, unstructured additional service data, sometimes referred to as "quick codes" or "feature codes".

PS:
This question is not limited to Android, to the iphone I have not found a solution.
