greece – Can a Short Stay Schengen Visa be issued when the passport expires in less than 3 months?

I’m an Indian passport holder resident in Ireland. My Irish residency expires in 2023.

I booked a trip to Greece without fully checking the passport requirements.

The intended date of departure from Greece is the 25th of October, 2021, however my passport expires on the 12th of January, 2022.

Which means it violates the minimum requirement of the 3 month passport validity rule.

I’m hoping that since it’s only 2 weeks short of the 3 month span, I will be granted the visa.

Are the embassies known to be lenient on the passport requirement based on the fact that I have a USA B1/B2 visa that expires in 2029 and I’ve visited Greece twice in the past?

Schengen visa – Italian issued visa but now going to Spain

I am an EU citizen. Wife is Kazhak national and we live in UK. We planned a holiday in Italy and obtained multi entry visa from Italian consulate. Covid restrictions have resulted in us having cancelled Italian trip and substituting Spanish trip.

  1. Is my wife entitled to use Italian visa to enter Spain given we will not be visiting Italy?
  2. If we visit Italy on a subsequent trip during the validity of the visa is my wife likely to encounter difficulties when applying subsequently for a further Italian visa.

I would appreciate if respondents could provide links to official guidance that supports their answers

china – Can a Tibet Travel Permit be issued with Chinese visa in an expired passport?

Theoretically you don’t need to apply for a new Chinese visa for your new passport. The Chinese embassy also says that a traveller should carry both passports provided that your visa is still valid and the personal details including your name, sex, date of birth and nationality on both passports are exactly the same.

But I think your tour operator has no reason to lie to you. They must have asked about your situation and gotten an answer from the Tibet tourist department. So I guess the only reason is that the Tibet tourist department doesn’t know about the rule of a valid Chinese visa in an old passport.

You should know that Tibet permits are actually 2 separate pieces of papers, and your passport number will be listed on one of these papers, and your valid Chinese visa is connected with the old passport number. I think this is the part that confused them, because they don’t know which passport number they should list on the permit, the old passport number or the new number? So the officer just said no to your agency.

How about asking your agency to show the officer the new rule of the Chinese embassy, and ask your agency to provide a proof that you are using and will travel with both passports?

You also help other travellers in the same case.

Good luck and remember to come back to update. :]

Do I need a visa for travelling to France/Italy/Greece with Blue card issued in Germany and Indian passport?

I recently moved to Germany from India and have received a blue card permit (AUFENTHALTSTITEL, BLAUE KARTE EU) this month. It is valid till 2025. My passport is still Indian.

I am planning to visit France, Italy or Greece on a vacation for 4-5 days in the next month.

Do I need a visa for travelling to any of these countries?

Short-term internship visa issued by Austria – what to do if no work-related remark is present on sticker?

I recently got my Schengen short stay visa approved to travel to Austria for an internship for less than 90 days. However my comments / remark section on my visa sticker is just blank. No remarks. I expected to see something like “ERWERB” written on it to show ability to get gainful employment (due to my internship).

What should I do to ensure I can complete my internship?

Geneva to Chamonix with French Issued Visa

As long as your visa is not territorially restricted (for type C visas, no other restrictive remarks other than “ETATS SCHENGEN” in the “VALID FOR” field), it is fine visa-wise.

However, United Kingdom is currently considered to be a high-risk country by the SEM. You must be vaccinated (with any WHO-authorized vaccines) to transit through Swiss territory in this case.

Unlike the EuroAirport in Basel where you could choose to exit through French immigration and customs, there is only Swiss immigration in Geneva and all Swiss Covid rules apply.

Transit from a third country considered by the SEM to be high-risk to
a Schengen state

Third-country citizens holding a residence document
or a visa type D for their destination country in the Schengen area
are permitted to travel through Switzerland to that country. The
normal requirements for entering Switzerland apply.

It is only possible to enter Switzerland from a high-risk country in
order to travel on to another Schengen state for a short stay of up to
90 days if you can prove that you have been vaccinated (see “How can I
prove that I am vaccinated?”). Persons under 18 may enter Switzerland
if they are travelling with an adult who has been vaccinated.
Otherwise the normal requirements for entering Switzerland apply.

If you have not been vaccinated, but your destination country in the
Schengen area has authorised your entry for a short stay of up to 90
days, you may only enter the Schengen area by travelling directly to
your destination country (i.e. you may not travel though Switzerland).

https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home/sem/aktuell/faq-einreiseverweigerung.html#2005127624

(The last paragraph just means you cannot transit through Switzerland, not that you can only take a direct flight. If another Schengen country allows such transit, Switzerland doesn’t care.)
