outlook.com – Why does Microsoft Outlook not “have permission to get email”, and ask me to “update my credentials”, for my AOL email?

Before March 22 2021, AOL synced with my desktop Microsoft Outlook software swimmingly!

Since then, I changed NOTHING for both my AOL or Outlook. My Outlook did update itself. Since then, Outlook keeps sending these alerts to my inbox. How do I rectify this?

I followed this Microsoft Answer, but it doesn’t solve my problem.

outlook.com – How to reply to a forwarded message from Gmail but make the response appear from Outlook?

I have a few email accounts, so I set a few filters on my school email (Outlook), and redirect all important mail to my personal (Gmail) account.

The goal is to:

  1. Receive an email from a colleague to Outlook, forward it to my Gmail (done)
  2. Write a response in Gmail, send it to my Outlook
  3. For my colleague to receive a response from my Outlook account in the same thread as he texted me

The “Send mail as:” function in Gmail does not work, since my school probably restricted that.

Is there a script that can make it possible, or a certain way I have to write the rules?

Also, if there are better way of doing this I’ll gladly hear them.

email – Why doesn’t outlook.com sync the inbox regularly?

I have an old Hotmail email account that I browse using the Outlook.com web interface.

For a very long time now, the web interface no longer syncs with the server to check for new incoming emails. I need to either refresh the tab or change email folders from- and back to- Inbox for new emails to show up.

Hotmail emails do show up on my two Android phones using the provided email client apps (Google’s).

I tried using Chrome and Firefox, with and without ad blocker, with and without my Gmail account also configured on the Outlook.com settings, and also tried switching from POP settings to IMAP settings, but the result is the same. Outlook.com refuses to check the server unless forced to manually.

I assumed the problem was with network settings on my computer, but I just changed to a new computer and see the same problem (both PCs are corporate machines).

How can I make Outlook.com sync with the server on a regular basis?

outlook.com – Recurring events are not imported from Hotmail to Google Calendar

When I export the calendar from Hotmail and then import it into Google Calendar, then the recurring events only show up once.

How can I make sure that the recurring events in Hotmail also stay recurring events in Google Calendar?

gmail – How to disable SafeLinks for NOT Outlook.com accounts?

I’ve noticed that since about Dec 15th 2020, links in a lot of my emails are rewritten to link to nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com, and I have no idea why or how this is happening.

Important!!! I’m not using Outlook.com, and emails are not coming from outlook.com as far as I can tell.

The emails are in my GMail account, and most but not all emails are affected.

The emails that have links replaced are from a sample of senders such as: NYT, Facebook, TED, LinkedIn, Banks, StackOverflow, online stores, NPR, etc.

Emails that don’t have links replaced are just a few: Craigslist, Google originated notifications like Google Calendar, and from some friends.

All the instructions for getting rid of it point to going to Outlook.com account, clicking on Premiere settings, and turning it off there. The problem is, I don’t use outlook.com (though my MS account login is the external email address that seems affected), I don’t have Premiere account, and I don’t even see how emails get intercepted by Outlook Safelinks, which is already really, really creepy.

Before anyone starts argue for why to keep it: it’s creepy and I never opted into it; it’s broken b/c now some of the links in emails do not work; Google’s spam filter is now much more aggressive such emails and most of them go to spam folder; some emails’ links are now broken (few store emails and facebook notifications links are now completely bust); good practice of check link before you click is now useless b/c I’ve no idea what I’m clicking on; when service dies (and it’ll die – nothing, especially in tech, is forever) all saved emails’ will have broken links; bad actors can take advantage of this by sending emails (such that would bypass the service) with links pointing to safelinks.protection.0utlook.com (not real outlook); etc. IOW, it’s a pain in the ass.

So with me not having Outlook Premier, nor even using outlook.com, nor even having outlook.com anywhere in the path of emails, HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?

outlook.com – Outlook Web – Create a Planner or Outlook Task from an email and then create a calendar event for that task

My company uses Office 365 for all things work related. So I am looking for an efficient way to use the tools we have to manage my day to day tasks.

My main requirement is I want to be able to capture an email and turn it into a Planner Task or an Outlooks Task, then be able to turn that task or email into a calendar event in more of a streamlines semi-automated way rather than doing that manually.

Anyone got suggestions for how to achieve this?
or am I over engineering this? Is there a simpler more efficient way to use these tools to manage my tasks?

Outlook.com: when I select the “Other” message tab, the site crashes

In Outlook.com, when I move from “Focused” to “Other” message tab, I get a white screen with the message:

Something Went Wrong

There was something that went wrong with the application. Please refresh your browser window to continue.

There is also a Refresh Window button on the right bottom, but the refresh leaves the screen as is. I can only navigate back to outlook.com which restores the “Focused” selection.

  1. I experienced this with both Firefox and Chromium under Linux and with Edge under Windows 10.
  2. I have more than one account and the problem affects only one of them.
  3. I tried to set the same settings on the different accounts. I noticed that in the affected account there is no OneNote button on the top bar, near the account logo.
  4. If in the Settings I disable message sorting into Focused and Other, the entire website crashes with the message above and the only way I found to restore it is to navigate to outlook.com/calendar and use the calendar Settings button to restore the Focused/Other sorting.

outlook.com calendar – Outlook 365: Is it possible to show Planner tasks in To Do tab?

I enjoy the To Do section to the right of the calendar, and particularly the possibility to drag and drop tasks into the calendar. It seems however, that not all lists that are available in the To Do app are shown in this section. I miss in particular the “Planned” ones (i.e. retrieved from tasks assigned to me on Planner), which are nearly all in my case.

Lists in app (“Webinars” end everything below it are already my custom lists):

Lists seen in To Do app

Lists in calendar section:

Is this something that somehow has to be configured? Or is it a missing feature? Or is there a reason not to expect this to be available?

I haven’t been able to find anything similar to this on the internet.
