database – Suitable low code platforms for viewing large amounts of data

Currently we use Tableau, which is great for data visualization. However, we have some usecases where we want to view large amounts of data individually in tables, or search for specific database rows. Tableau isn’t made for this and doesn’t perform well enough for it.

I tried a Microsoft PowerApps trial and it worked quite well, except that it will not pull more than 500 rows from the database.

Does anyone have experience with low-code platforms or tech stacks that support reading data from databases, larger than 500GB, and allowing for search functionalities?

Procedure for creating a command-line tool in C or C++ that includes all recommended packaging for all platforms

One reason I might want to create a command line tool in NodeJs is because I can follow simple procedure such as this:
https://blog.bitsrc.io/how-to-build-a-command-line-cli-tool-in-nodejs-b8072b291f81

And then I can tell people “go do npm install -g cooltool” and my cool tool is on their computer ready to be used from the command line, such as git or 7zip, place in the path and everything. And it’ll work on any computer NodeJS is on.

But I’d rather do this in C/C++. Is there a guide to do this such that one can write a simple console place application (with no dependencies), that will work on any platform. It’s okay if it’s limited to gcc and/or cmake for instance.

But what I would also like is have all the packaging “just work”, including publishing the packages in the places expected by users of the given platform. would that be apt-get? chocolatey? can it auto-create an msi or setup.exe? how about a dmg for osx?

I feel like this is a solved problem that someone must have already spent the time addressing. A programmer should be able to write a C file, compile it, and if it works, press a button and all the rest of the stuff just happens, packaging, etc.

This can perhaps even be a cloud service (I wouldn’t paying for it)

bitcoind – Upgrading/converting bitcoin core wallet between platforms

After 2 years of being shut down, I am trying to revive my bitcoin full node, while both switching platforms and upgrading to the current version in the process. Everything works but the wallet. The presence of the wallet causes the new node to crash (segfault). The node works when either wallet.dat is missing or when -disablewallet is provided. I do not really need that wallet to be fully imported, just to get the bitcoin associated with it into the an address controlled by the new node.

I read this issue report that blames the version of the berkley db lib files. I compiled bitcoin core locally with the older BDB libs provided via bitcoin/contrib/install_db4.sh per that issue report, and got the same result. The thing is, since (afaik) the windows platform does not provide an implementation of BDB, I have no idea what headers are correct for the wallet file generated by windows bitcoin core.

I want to avoid deleting and re-downloading the entire blockchain. I did run once with -disablewallet -assumevalid=0 to verify the entire blockchain. I retain backups of all pre-upgrade files, if it helps.

gdb backtrace pastebin. Note that this run was only a subset of the cli options I normally run with, specifically missing rpc info.

Old setup:

  • Windows 7 pro x64 sp1
  • bitcoin core gui (qt) 0.16.0
  • last synced early December 2018
  • BDB version unknown
  • datadir sat on slow external hdd (ntfs)

New node:

  • Debian Buster stable
  • bitcoin core daemon 0.21, compiled locally
  • syncing now, currently late March 2019
  • BDB 4.8.30.NC compiled via included script and detected by configure
  • datadir on slow internal sata hdd (ext4)

Is there any way to import an old/differently formatted wallet.dat file into a newer node? Is there perhaps a way to extract the private key info from said old file, so it can be manually imported? Could the old node software possibly create and send a transaction with the entire contents of the old wallet to a new address without fully syncing first? Is it possible the old version of bitcoinn core could fully sync with the modern blockchain?

e: forgot to mention: the db err logfile /mnt/data/blockchains/btc/blockchain/db.log is empty and retains the last modified date from the first startup of the original node in mid 2017.

Value of using multiple social media platforms

I am the social media person for an amateur sporting organisation.
SEMrush

It is voluntary work and quite a time consuming doing a good job with (1) Facebook to get it right and I also duplicate some of these posts in my club notes section of a (2) local newspaper and we also have an extensive (3) Email Newsletter.

Although we have an extensive following, only a few people click on LIKE and/or SHARE, I assume that the same would happen for (4) Twitter and (5) Instagram.

Even though it’s a well-supported sports club, only a few people ever bother to LIKE and SHARE a very diverse range of well-presented posts.

I am always a little confused as to the value of the effort required to repeat the same posts that I have created on Facebook and duplicate them onto other platforms such as:

Facebook
Local Newspaper
Emailed Newsletter
Instagram
twitter.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Good webapp development platforms to build a Dating app which has database support and Saas style

Kindly recommend me good webapp development platforms to build a Dating app which has database support and Saas style.

Scenario: Dating app which will work on desktop, tabs and iphone etc
Requirements:

  1. need support for database (to store user data)
  2. eCommerce support to get payments from subscribers
  3. Saas like pages
  4. Need to execute matching scripts for the user when they load their profile.
  5. Need a fast development environment

I tried figma, very good looking and easy to design, but it doesn’t support databases it seems.

Kindly let me know your recommendations of platforms, languages etc

procedural generation – How do I generate platforms in a specific position in godot?

I am making a rougelike game in Godot. Currently, I am stuck with the world generation. I know how to add children, but I am wondering if there is a way to add those children in a specific position. I also need to know how to add nodes to an array, and then choose one from the array to spawn.

I am experiencing a problem during Android studio installation as the Android sdk platforms are not getting installed. What to do?

Then i copy paste the link of installation and download the emulator and sdk platforms and extract them in Android studio for. But after restarting Android studio it still says the sdk is missing.
