Selective printing from a Google spreadsheet

I work in a school and have a teacher who wants to print multiple tabs from a Google spreadsheet. I have managed to show her how to print the pages she wants in the workbook (File, Print, change “Current Sheet” to “Workbook”),now she wants to exclude parts of those pages so that they do not print. These are cells below the area she wants to print that are part of the whole spreadsheet. In Excel I used to be able to mark the print area. This would be easy if it was just one of the tabs that she wanted to print, in this case there are a number of them. Any ideas?

printing – MS-Word Cannot print customized specified pages when Table of Contents is present

I have a document that I have been working on for a few months. Today I discovered that it will not print specified pages.

Problem
Document cannot print specific pages if there is a Table of Contents present.

Version
Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2110 Build 16.0.14509.20000) 64-bit (running on Windows 10)

Diagnosis
The document does have TWO sections. I tried specifying p2s1 and it won’t work.

  1. Tried Open / Repair the document. No change.
  2. Removed the last section so there is only one section. Still doesn’t
    work.
  3. Removed the Table of Contents on page 1. After doing this I am able
    to print specified pages, even if I start again with 2 sections.
  4. In case it was to do with the positioning of the ToC, created a ToC
    on the last page. This reinstated the problem – i.e. cannot print
    specified pages.
  5. In case the ToC was corrupt somehow, I created a new one. This
    reinstated the problem – i.e. cannot print specified pages.
  6. In case it is just this document, created a new blank document with 3 separate pages & one section. Can print specified pages ok. Added a Table of Contents on page 1 – unable to print specified pages. I also tried this on another computer running (Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0.14326.20164) 64-bit) with exactly same results.

Workaround
Print entire document to PDF and then print desired pages from PDF reader. Not optimal.

ms office – How can I stop Microsoft Word (for Mac) from printing double sided by default?

My MS Word (2016) for Mac suddendly started printing every document double sided by default – which I do not want 😉

Essentially, when I choose Print, it is selected by default on “Long-Edge binding” in the “Two-sided” option.
File > Print > Copies & Pages > Layout > Two-sided > Long-Edge binding

Every time, I have to manually turn it off to get basic, single page printing.

The printer settings (Canon TS6161) seem fine, and it does that nowhere else – pdf, Word for Windows etc. Only my Word for Mac.

Any idea how to change it or reset the default printing settings for Word?

Thanks for any suggestions and have a great day 🙂
Vincent

python – Why is this loop sometimes working fine and sometimes printing infinite results?

I have been searching but can’t find anything that helps me.
I have a code which requires me to create a code 00.00.00 to use them for separate them, so I have create a list that I join at the end (“0”, “0”, “.”…)

The matter is that for some values, I need ONE to match certain conditions, so I’m using a function that returns int if is correct (I need the number), or False if it does not.

I have created a function for that loop but sometimes it runs nice, and some times it keeps running deleting the number

def code_validator(code, list_acc, q_dict, pos_dict, rareza, q):
    code2 = code.copy()
    while code2.count('0') > 4:
            a = random.choice(list_acc)
            a_q = q_dict(a)
            a_p = int(pos_dict(a))
            if q == 1:
                if type(acc_dict(a, rareza)) == int:
                    code2(a_p) = acc_dict(a, rareza)
                    q = q+1
                while acc_dict(a, rareza) == False:
                    code_validator(code2, list_acc, q_dict, pos_dict, rareza, q)
            elif code2(a_p) == '0':
                    code2(a_p) = str(random.randint(1,a_q))
            print(code2)
            breakpoint
            if code2.count('0') == 4:
                break
    return code2

Output when it runs fine:

('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '2', '0', '.', 3, '0')

Output when it fails:

('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('5', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('1', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '3', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '1', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '0', '0', '.', 3, '0')
('0', '0', '.', '1', '0', '.', 3, '0') #For example.

Hope someone can help me. I will be glad to add more code if it’s necessary.

printing – Edge prints PDF files to PRN file

I’ve tried to search this issue online, but have not found anything useful and recent. I’m running Windows 10 Pro fully updated as of 8/31/21.

If a PDF document is opened in Edge, for example from a website, it’s displayed correctly, but when I try to print the file it will only send it to a PRN file. If I save the file, set my defaults for PDF to the Adobe Reader and open the file with that app, then printing works fine. But if PDF extension defaults to using Edge then it will only print to a PRN file.

Not sure when this behavior started. Can anyone please tell the cause and suggest how to get it fixed to print PDF’s normally?

printing – Malicious scanning of port 631?

I have observed that one computer on my home network (192.168.1.60) is trying to access port 631 of my main computer (192.168.1.253). I’m not carrying out any printing. I would want to know if there is a security problem.

This is from /var/log/ufw.log. It’s happening since August 3 2021.

This traffic is first observed when 192.168.1.60 boots, before any user is logged in. It also happens randomly after logging in.

Ufw blocks it. I’m not carrying out any printer activity on 192.168.1.60. It has neither local, USB, or network printers configured. 192.168.1.253 does have a shared printer, but it’s behind the firewall. (It is shared in order to print from local VMs).

Does this activity indicate that 192.168.1.60 may be compromised?

Could it be that 192.168.1.60 is just trying to discover printers on the network?

Both computers are Ubuntu 20.04.3. This is the firewall of 192.168.1.253:

Status: active
Logging: on (low)
Default: deny (incoming), allow (outgoing), disabled (routed)

1920s Photography 35mm Printing – Photography Stack Exchange

I am researching for a historical fiction novel. Background is 1921, United States. Using an American Tourist Multiple camera.American Tourist I am trying to figure out making prints, what type of enlarger would be available. Character has access to a city newspaper office or a portrait studio, but is just an amateur with some darkroom experience. I think (please correct me if I’m wrong) that portrait studios would not be using 35mm.
Any advice?
Thanks

printing – Is there a way to reset the page count on an HP 65 Cartridge?

I have an hp envy 5014 printer and it uses hp 65 cartridges. From what I’ve read, the chip on the model 65 cartridge counts the number of pages that the cartridge has “printed” and then decrements the ink level based on that. Now that I’ve refilled my cartridges, its pretty annoying to have to click through a couple of “low ink” and “buy genuine Hp cartridges” warnings/balloons.

I’ve tried the Power Cycle the Printer 5 Times trick and the Unplug and Hold Power Button For 30 Secs trick as well and both don’t work. ( the taping a contact trick seems to be valid only for older model cartridges; the contact pattern isn’t the same)

Does anyone have an updated “ink reset” trick that I can try?

Thank you all in advance,

Harry
