source code – Bitcoin validator node spec

We are working on integrating Bitcoin with another blockchain. Essentially, we are trying to store Bitcoin on this new blockchain. For that, we need a mechanism to properly store the Bitcoin ledger info in our blockchain.

I understand that there could be complications like forks, nodes supplying blocks from only one of the forks, etc. So, I want to understand the detailed spec or source code of the Bitcoin validator nodes. I couldn’t find such a resource. Do you mind giving any pointers?

git – What should I put in a spec for a Data Analytics platform?

Disclaimer: I don’t know where to put this question exactly in the Stack environment, so if I’m mistaken please redirect me to the right forum before shutting down my post. Thanks !

To help you understand what I need let me briefly set the context, I work as a data scientist for a big international company in the aerospace industry. Recently we’ve started working on Deep Learning based algorithms to predict the potential failure of sub systems.

The data is stored on our data lake inside our Data analytic platform running on Spark.
Problem are :

  1. This “Data analytic platform” does not support Deep Learning and Machine learning applications yet. So this activity has to be done outside.
  2. The data, stored in our platform, for this project is huge (>50Gb) and is restricted by law against export. Basically we cannot download the data to do the training and modelling locally.

So we decided that we need a platform to train and test the model that would be directly connected to the Data Lake (so no export required) and we’d like it to have the usual bell and whistles (Spark, Multi CPU and GPU, Git Repo for versioning, branching…).

My problem is, I know just enough to know that I don’t know anything. I know things like Support, availability of the platform, back up, capacity to manage concurrent build schedule the activity… can be quite important in sizing the right tools but I don’t know how.

Do you know where I could find examples, or guidelines on how to build such a specs please ? So that it does not looks like a 4th grader Christmas list.

ciphers – Openvpn qeustion: stronger encryption needs higher spec server?

I am testing my openvpn server.(Debian 10, 1 cpu core, 2 GB ram)
I wanna use stronger encryption.
But I feel network speed is slow with strong encrytion cipher (SHA512, AES-256).
If I change encryption cipher(SHA256, AES-128), I feel network speed is fast.

Have to I change my openvpn server with higher spec for stronger encrytion?
Else, are there some server setting options for stronger encrytion?

And one more question: Is this the strongest security encryption in openvpn?
SHA512, AES-256, RSA-4096bit

linux – High spec server running slower than low spec one?

We use numerous server companies for different reasons at work. We needed a bigger server and have treated ourselves to a

New server

   VMWare CPUs 4
   Cores per socket 1
   Bus type lsi logical parallel
   16MB
   Ubuntu 20
   MySQL 5.7

Old Server

   CPUs 2
   Cores per socket 1
   Bus type lsi logical parallel
   8MB
   MySQL 5.5

Old server performs better than the new one we’ve been upgraded to… The same MySQL queries take longer (and state as much) on the new powerful server. Loading any web page hosted from this server seems to take a while whereas this wasn’t the case before.

When I use htop to compare servers, the old one which runs faster is maxed out in terms of CPU and memory. The new one is barely breaking a sweat.

I have noticed that when I ssh into the new server it frequently staggers and seeing the input on my terminal of what I’m typing is delayed.

I’ve asked the company to investigate but they ask silly questions about IPs and talk about temporary outages on a specific morning (nothing temporary about this issue).

I’ve exhausted my knowledge of how to extract metrics, numbers, etc that shows what’s behind this issue.

environment variables – Ruby Gem Change SPEC CACHE DIRECTORY from non-existing disk to path

When trying to install a gem i receive an error:

when checking the gem environment variables i get the following return:

the problem is clear: USER INSTALLATION DIRECTORY and SPEC CACHE DIRECTORY are not valid paths (Z:/ disk does not exist.) the question therefore is:

how do i change those variables to point to another path

Thank you in advance

What is the minimum that a spec need include to allow interoperability between different implementations in terms of Authentication, Authorization?

I am involved in the specification of a new open standard that will allow different power system control centers to exchange information during system operation.
My knowledge of IAA is insufficient to decide the minimum that should be part of the
specification to ensure interoperability of different implementations.
Here are some details:

  • There are between 100 and 200 different companies involved and each one will have an implementation of the standard installed in one or more local servers;
  • Each one will either implement or buy an implementation of the standard that I am working on;
  • Of course, these different implementations will 1) conform to the standard; and 2) must interoperate.
  • There may be a relation of trust between some pairs of these companies but not all;
  • Authorization must be ABAC;
  • I would like to avoid tying the standard to a particular technology (OAuth, SAML, OpenID, etc.) unless interoperability requires it.

In this context, what is the minimum that must be specified in the standard to ensure interoperability of implementations?
If you need additional details to be able to help me, please feel free to ask!

algebraic geometry – fibre with only one point is isomoprhic to the spec of a field

Let $R$ and $T$ be commutative diagrams with unity. Let $Q$ be a prime ideal of $R$ and $phi:R to T$. Suppose $T otimes_R (R_Q/Q R_Q)$ has only one prime ideal.
Then I would like to prove that the vertical map on the left hand side of
begin{array}{cc}
T otimes_R R_Q/Q R_Q & leftarrow & T
\
uparrow & &uparrow
\
R_Q/Q R_Q & leftarrow & R
end{array}

is an isomorphism. How can I prove this?

I thought I could prove this by showing that given any $t otimes r$, we have
$t otimes r = 1 otimes s$ for some $s in R_Q/Q R_Q$, but this seems to only work if $t$ is in the image of $phi$
