Upgrade Helm to protect your username and password – CVE-2021-32690

There is a new security issue with Helm, reported in CVE-2021-32690.

The New Stack reported last week that while working on the Helm source, a Helm core maintainer discovered that you could easily set up a situation where the username and password credentials associated with one Helm repository could be passed on to another domain.

“A Helm chart repository includes an index.yaml that can contain a reference where to get the chart archive for each version of a chart. The reference can be relative to the index.yaml file or a URL to location. The URL can point to any domain and this is a feature leveraged by Helm users.”

This bug is in all versions of Helm through Helm 3.6. It’s been fixed now in Helm 3.61. Binaries are available for macOS, Linux, and Windows platforms.

8 – Private Message Module: Editing “Send private message” Link to include Username

I prefer to edit (hack) the private message module directly in this case if you won’t mind helping me. https://www.drupal.org/project/private_message 8.x-2.0-beta16

I want to change the message from 'Send private message' to 'Send private message to @username' which should display the username from the user’s page that we are visiting and contacting.

The module has the following t()-function saying:

'#title' => t('Send private message'),

Is there are way to hack this line directly to insert the username. I tried myself a number of ways, but failed.

The relevant code is located in: private_messagesrcServicePrivateMessageService.php#L336-382

  public function createRenderablePrivateMessageThreadLink(array &$build, EntityInterface $entity, EntityViewDisplayInterface $display, $view_mode) {
    if ($display->getComponent('private_message_link')) {
      if ($entity instanceof UserInterface) {
        $author = $entity;
      }
      else {
        $author = $entity->getOwner();
      }
      $current_user = Drupal::currentUser();
      if ($current_user->isAuthenticated()) {
        if ($current_user->hasPermission('use private messaging system') && $current_user->id() != $author->id()) {
          $members = ($current_user, $author);
          $thread_id = $this->mapper->getThreadIdForMembers($members);
          if ($thread_id) {
            $url = Url::fromRoute('entity.private_message_thread.canonical',
('private_message_thread' => $thread_id), ('attributes' => ('class' =>

              '#suffix' => '</div>',
            );
          }
        }
      }
      else {
        $url = Url::fromRoute('user.login');
        $build('private_message_link') = (

unity – How can I get Steam username and avatar image from leaderboard?

After I downloaded leaderboard data (using the Steamworks.NET API), I couldn’t find any related info about the user’s name and the avatar picture. The only thing I can get is a CSteamID.

I saw some games implement a Steam Leaderboard, displaying their name and avatar images, and I’m trying to achieve the same thing. However, I’ve searched on the Steamworks documentation and on Google for almost a day, but couldn’t find any related information.

The only thing I found was an API with SteamFriends, there were some API’s that retrieved the user’s name and avatar image.

Here’s the code I’m trying:

private CallResult<LeaderboardScoresDownloaded_t> m_DownloadResult = new CallResult<LeaderboardScoresDownloaded_t>();

...

SteamAPICall_t hSteamAPICall = SteamUserStats.DownloadLeaderboardEntries(
    m_CurrentLeaderboard,
    ELeaderboardDataRequest.k_ELeaderboardDataRequestGlobalAroundUser,
    -4,
    5
);
m_DownloadResult.Set(hSteamAPICall, OnLeaderboardDownloadScore);

...

void OnLeaderboardDownloadScore(LeaderboardScoresDownloaded_t pCallback, bool failure) {
    Debug.Log("Failure: " + failure);

    if (!failure) {
        int count = pCallback.m_cEntryCount;

        for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {
            LeaderboardEntry_t leaderboardEntry;

            SteamUserStats.GetDownloadedLeaderboardEntry(
                pCallback.m_hSteamLeaderboardEntries,
                i,
                out leaderboardEntry,
                null,
            0);

            CSteamID user = leaderboardEntry.m_steamIDUser;

            Debug.Log("Rank" + i);
            Debug.Log("User Name: " + leaderboardEntry. // how to get user name and avatar?
            Debug.Log(leaderboardEntry.m_nScore);

            Debug.Log("===========================");
        }
    }
}

In LeaderboardEntry, I can only get the score and CSteamID. In SteamUser and SteamUserStat classes, there was no API that can get the user’s name and avatar image.

administrator – Setting a default username in Admin authentication dialogs?

For years, whenever I was presented with a dialog asking for Administrator authentication, the Username field was already filled in. I only needed to fill in the password.

This changed (I think) recently when I got an Apple Watch and the “unlock with Apple Watch” setting in the Security & Privacy system prefs pane got enabled. I disabled that setting, but still, since then, the Username field comes up empty and I have to fill it in every time.

Any idea of how can I go back to having a default Admin Username filled in automatically?

Some further detail and things I have tried:

  • I’m in macOS Big Sur 11.4, but as stated, the default Admin username had been there across OS versions for as long as I can remember.
  • I’m in a non-Admin account, obviously. There is only 1 Admin account in the machine, also owned by me, rarely used.
  • I tried logging in as the Admin account. In there, the authentication dialogs do fill in the Admin’s name by default.
  • I have tried turning on and off Fast User switch, the showing of names in the log in screen, have recreated the TouchID fingerprints of the Admin account, and logged that account into its AppleID account. Nothing helped.

How to find the default username for a new Oracle install?

I just downloaded and installed Oracle 19, with the default settings for installing on a PC (non-server,) and SQL Developer. SQL Developer detects two Oracle connections, called LISTENER_ORCL and ORCL, but I’m not able to connect to either one of them. It keeps saying I have the wrong username or password.

I picked a memorable password that I’m certain I’m not getting wrong, so I can only imagine the problem is with my username. SQL Developer is supplying the names of the connections as the username. That doesn’t work. A bit of Googling suggests using “SYSDBA” as the default username. That doesn’t work either. So… what exactly will work? What do I have to do to connect to this database?

outlook.com – Why are major email providers separating the username and password forms?

The trend started with Hotmail, then Gmail and Yahoo followed it. You enter only email address first, then press Next button and a new form appears for the password.

Previously, there was a single form with email and password fields and a sign in or log in button. Facebook still goes this way.

Main question:

  1. Why are they doing this?

Bonus Questions:

  1. Is there a particular terminology for this kind of behavior?
  2. Is there a special feature in Javascript/HTML that easily enables such forms?
