I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with a font not being picked up by all software after installing it using MacOS Font Book.
Specifically, I am trying to understand why the font shows up in atsutil but not appear to exist in the default font folders.
- The font is not picked up by a Python library I am using. This library finds fonts by checking the usual Mac OS font directories given below
- I could not find the font files in the system directories pointed to in the documentation or by Font Book (~/Library/Fonts/ + /Library/Fonts/)
- Using atsutil, the new font does show up in the output from
atsutilsource its fonts from? How come it finds the font, although it appears to not be in the default folders?
Where can I check to find my missing font?
This is on the most recent Big Sur, the font I installed is Proxima Nova
Within Font Book, the option to Show in Finder is greyed out for this one, but not for the pre-installed fonts
When searching for the ttf files for this font using
find, I find them in app-specific folders, such as 1 Password
Changing the install directory in Font Book does not change the situation
I cleaned out the font cache etc for my Python library
Any pointers are much appreciated!
